About Gander Web
Gander Web is a UK web hosting, VPS, server colocation and Microsoft 365 provider based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. It was founded in 2023 by Joshua Wood, who still runs it: the network, the servers and the support. When you call 01246 923991, you're talking to the people who actually operate the infrastructure, not a call centre reading a script.
What we actually run
Plenty of small hosts are a reseller panel on somebody else's cloud. Here's the kit behind our services: the same facts you'll find on our network and colocation pages, because they're the same facts.
Our own network
We own and operate our network routing, with direct peering at and and tier-1 transit from carriers including GTT and NTT. UK traffic takes fewer hops, and BGP moves it to the healthiest path automatically.
A proper UK data centre
Our core Newcastle node and our colocation racks live in a Newcastle data centre: ISO 27001 certified, 2N power redundancy, 24/7 on-site security and carrier neutral.
Hardware you can name
Dell, HP and Supermicro servers, connected through Juniper Networks switching and routing. Every core switch and router has a hot-standby pair, so there's no single point of failure in the core.
on the servers, Cloudflare at the edge
Shared and WordPress hosting run cPanel with LiteSpeed Web Server, and Cloudflare sits in front to keep services fast and shrug off attacks before they reach you.
You don't have to take any of that on trust. Our network page measures the route from your own browser, live, hop by hop.

We move your site, database and email across ourselves, test it on a temporary URL, and only switch your domain over when you're happy. No charge.

The "real people" on this page is mostly one person, and this is him.
Joshua Wood founded Gander Web in July 2023 and still runs it day to day. He looks after the network and the servers everything here is hosted on, and he writes the how-to guides on the blog, cPanel, WordPress, VPS security, email DNS: the same questions customers actually ring up and ask.
That's deliberate. The whole pitch for Gander Web is "talk to the person who runs the kit", so the person who runs the kit shouldn't be hard to find.
