How to Add a Domain in cPanel
In short
In cPanel, open Domains > Domains and click Create A New Domain. Enter the domain, untick Share document root if it's a separate website, keep the suggested folder and click Submit. Then point the domain's DNS at your hosting and upload the site.
Every Gander Web hosting plan lets you host as many websites as you like, each on its own domain with its own folder. Older cPanel versions called these addon domains; current cPanel adds every kind of domain from one Domains page.
1. Log in to cPanel
The quickest way in is from the Client Portal: open Services > My Services, choose your hosting package and click Log in to cPanel. You can also go to https://yourdomain.co.uk:2083 and sign in with your cPanel username and password.
2. Create the domain
In the Domains section, click Domains, then Create A New Domain. Enter the domain name without www, for example mynewdomain.co.uk.
3. Choose where its files live
The Share document root box decides whether the new domain shows your main website or its own:
- Ticked: the new domain shows the same website as your main domain. Older cPanel called this a parked domain or alias.
- Unticked: the new domain gets its own folder and its own website. cPanel suggests a folder named after the domain, which you can keep.
Click Submit.
4. Point the domain at your hosting
If the domain already uses our nameservers, there's nothing to do. If it's registered elsewhere, change its nameservers at the registrar to the ones in your hosting welcome email, or point its A record at your server's IP address. See how to point your domain to a new host.
5. Upload the website
Upload the site into the new domain's folder with File Manager or an FTP account, or install WordPress straight into it with Softaculous.
6. Add SSL and test
Once the DNS points at your hosting, AutoSSL issues a free certificate, usually within a few hours. To speed it up, open SSL/TLS Status and click Run AutoSSL. Then visit the domain in a browser. DNS changes usually show within an hour or two, but allow up to 48 hours.

How do I add a domain in cPanel?

What's the difference between an addon domain, a parked domain and a subdomain?
An addon domain hosts a separate website. A parked domain (alias) shows an existing website on an extra domain. A subdomain, like blog.example.co.uk, is a section of a domain you already have.
Do I need to change the nameservers or DNS?
Yes, unless the domain already uses our nameservers. Point its nameservers or A record at your hosting, using the details in your welcome email.
How long until the new domain works?
Usually within an hour or two of the DNS change, though full propagation can take up to 48 hours.
Can I host several domains on one plan?
Yes. Every hosting plan, including Basic, lets you host as many websites as you like from one cPanel account.
